When a child grieves…
…looking back gives them the courage to look forward.
Camp Promise is an AMAZING FREE CAMP for grieving children ages 6-16 that is put on by Hospice of Lake Cumberland every year. It will be June 1-3, 2018. I know there are lots of children in our community that could benefit from this camp. If you know of a child or teen that has lost a loved one, please tell their guardian about Camp Promise today and download the Application.
Camp Promise is of a tremendous value but we do not charge families to send their child. If you know of anyone that would be interested in sponsoring a child, making a donation of any size, or volunteering their time, please contact us today!
Be sure to get your application in as early as possible, as spots are limited!
Camp Promise 2017 was a great success!
Children grieve differently…
Hospice of Lake Cumberland realizes that children experience grief very differently than adults. Camp Promise has been compassionately designed for children ages 6 to 16 who are grieving the death of a loved one. Every detail comes together to help them express and process their grief in efforts to promote healing for their hurting hearts.
Children express themselves differently…
Therapeutic activities and interactions with fellow mourners help campers find ways to express their feelings and increase their coping skills. Children need a safe place to unburden, so our number one priority is to create a safe, nurturing and fun environment to help them integrate remembrance and hope. Camp Promise includes pond fishing, horseback riding, grief related games, activities, movie time, campfire fun and much more!
Camp Promise is held at a camp in Jabez, KY and is offered as a free service to any child who is dealing with the death of a loved one.
