Portia Flowers

Position: Administrative Assistant
Hometown: Burkesville, KY

Hospice of Lake Cumberland is excited to introduce Portia Flowers. Portia will be working in our new
Burkesville office and brings a wide range of experience to the team. She has served as an Executive Director
for two tourism commissions, worked in public relations for the Corps of Engineers, and has a vast amount of
experience in radio. Interestingly enough, Portia recalled working with artists like Bob Seger and REO
Speedwagon when working in the Louisville market.

Portia considers herself blessed to be part of the team at Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Her family has firsthand
knowledge of the wonderful services Hospice provides and she was attracted to Hospice of Lake Cumberland
because of the supportive care offered. Portia has a passion for serving others and believes Hospice is the
perfect place to fulfill that mission. She will be working in Cumberland County where she graduated high school
and has developed great relationships from her time serving in various roles.

Portia loves spending time with family! She has one son and two granddaughters that are a big part of her life.
She cherishes her role as a grandmother and is affectionately known as “Gran” at her house.

A couple of little known facts about Portia is that she went back to college with her son and graduated from
Lindsey Wilson College with honors, earning a B.A. in Communications. Portia also flew assisting with
helicopter traffic reports for one and one-half years while working for WAVE radio in Louisville. She has
acquired thirty-three hours toward a pilot’s license.
