At Hospice of Lake Cumberland, we believe in the transformative power of fulfilling bucket list wishes. Through our dedicated ‘Bucket List’ program, we go above and beyond to turn cherished dreams into heartfelt realities for our patients. Whether it’s a special meal, a unique outing, or a meaningful experience, we are committed to creating lasting memories that bring comfort, joy, and fulfillment to those we are privileged to serve.
Each patient we serve becomes an integral part of our extended family, and their unique needs are at the heart of our care. Sometimes, we’re touched by special requests from our patients or their families, prompting the creation of our ‘Bucket List’ program.
Our dedicated staff, driven by compassion, encounters heartwarming stories that leave a lasting impact. One such unforgettable couple captured our collective hearts. The husband, our patient, expressed a simple yet profound wish—to take his wife on one last date. Aware that mobility might become a challenge, our team sprang into action.
A call to a local restaurant revealed a beautiful display of generosity. Not only did they reserve a table that accommodated the couple easily, but they also insisted on covering the entire bill. Their gesture was a testament to the power of kindness, driven by a shared belief that some moments are beyond measure.
The goodwill extended further when our team approached a local car dealership for a vehicle loan. True to the spirit of community, a vehicle was promptly provided. A thoughtful volunteer crafted place cards and brought red roses (the wife’s favorite flower) to enhance the ambiance.
Before the cherished date, our staff went above and beyond. A social worker helped the wife feel special, and a nurse assisted the husband in donning his Sunday best. This day became a profound experience for everyone involved. A seemingly simple act—a meal out, a date with a loved one—resonates deeply. We hope this exceptional couple found as much joy in their day as we did in making it happen.
