Hospice Volunteers
Volunteers are at the heart of our hospice patient care team. The Jean Waddle Care Center is a personalized care program with many needs to be met by many families. This can only become a reality through dedicated, talented and professional people. Volunteers provide the essential variety necessary to meet every family’s requests. Because we provided care during an intense, emotional, and crucial time, volunteers make a significant impact. There are many ways to volunteer including through in-office support, patient care, bereavement care, special events, and special projects.
The best way to volunteer your time is by calling our main office at 606-679-4389, and asking to be transferred to our volunteer coordinator, or filling out our volunteer application. We thank you for making a difference.
"After my parents passed away just two years apart, I fully appreciated the people who made up the Hospice team who cared for them and us as a family. I knoew that I wanted to do something to return that compassion we felt. I mostly deal with office work but I love knowing that I am helping the nurses, social workers, and aides do for others what they did for us."

Words From Our Volunteers
I started volunteering because my mom and uncle both had Hospice. After I saw the commitment that was given by their team to make sure my family was taken care of. I knew that I wanted to be a part of them in some small way.

I began my journey with Hospice in 2009. I was interested because of the way Hospice was in the care of both sets of my grandparents. I always wanted to be a nurse and although I am not, it's nice to be able to bring some comfort and smiles in visiting with patients. I have met many amazing people in my volunteer time and am honored to give my time to them.

Hospice has been such an important parts of my life. They not only helped to take care of my husband and grandparents, they took care of our family as well. I am honored to serve as a volunteer and try to pay the kindness forward.
